HELP US REBUILD OUR ROOFTOP SPACE
ABOUT RAISE THE ROOFTOP
Temple Shaaray Tefila is proud to announce an exciting project to renovate the roof of the building. This unique project allows us to reimagine our outdoor space for the future, not only to build a state-of-the-art rooftop to inspire the next generation of learners in our nursery school, the roof will be designed so that it can be a place of gathering for the entire temple community, including adult programs and private events.
By reorienting the play structure location and adding a beautiful new garden, we will have an inviting multi-purpose space that our congregants will appreciate, use, and enjoy!

May + Watkins, the design firm we have chosen, has worked with several local congregations on their rooftop playground renovations, including Stephen Wise Free Synagogue and Central Synagogue. They are also responsible for the incredible EatSleepPlay exhibit at The Children’s Museum of Manhattan, as well as many other notable projects.

THE ROOFTOP TODAY
In anticipation of the grand opening
of the Nursery School in September 1993, the current rooftop play structure was installed as a means to provide
our Nursery School children with outdoor space, a school-run garden,
and an event space for families with young children.
Over the past 29 years, over 4,000 children have enriched their preschool experience by running, climbing, sliding, planting, and growing together. Playtime is an invaluable time in which children build meaningful connections, develop lasting friendships, and test the limits of their minds and bodies. We are inspired by the opportunity to create a state-of-the-art rooftop space to inspire the next generation of learners. Through this community building initiative, we will enhance the greatness of the Nursery School even further.
